Hi, this neighborhood is now a part of the Old Southside Historic District. There have been turf wars and unclear boundaries over the years that have finally been resolved. There is no longer an association for this area as it is just one part of the Old Southside neighborhood and the neighborhood's Association (OSNA). I haven't found a place to skate or listen to music or have fun with the kids and grandkids since melody skate land was in my life. I sure wish we could all reunite there today. kids now a days don't have a clue.. we should all build it up again make it like old times and teach the new how friendships and teamwork and just all things were done and should still be done today.. what the hell is wrong with us letting US fall short of such great times. we need melody skate land at least a new one made like the old one. My name is Katherine Rose Askren, daughter of Richard Franklin Askren, Granddaughter of Richard Wallace Askren, Great Granddaughter of John Askren (not the original John but not too far off). I wanted so badly to keep the home in the family but I am thrilled that the current owners have so lovingly taken care of this special place and restored it maintaining many of its charming features. I remember attending a couple of family reunions there as a child and my children are fourth generation Askrens to graduate from Warren Central High School to which the land it stands on was gifted to the district by our family.

The house was eventually sold to a couple who have rehabbed it and live in it. The house was separated from the surrounding 8 acres which have been for sale for a few years.
